About SocietyPlus, the platform
Society+ is meant to be the digital version of your actual, physical community.
Social network platforms used to feel and function this way, but then, things changed: Third-party marketers and sponsors and shareholders dictated how aggressive the developers and owners of the platforms would become in strategies and methods to get more people to not only use the platform, but stay engaged on the platform as much as humanly possible (and not so humanly...bots, I’m talking about bots).
What this did, ultimately, was shift how society not only functions at large but specifically how we interact with each other and the world around us. It reduced our interest in our own local communities cause with the ability to peak into all that the world itself has to offer–be it random dance videos posted from Kenya, Comedy sketched in the UK, violence arising in the streets of [insert random country here]–there became truly no comparison to the world at large via the internet, and our own lives we live day-to-day. We collective chose the former: and that was by design.
Society+ (societyplus) seeks to interrupt the sociological, psychological and neurological affects done by big tech “social” apps by simply bringing back interest to our actual, real lives and the world directly surrounding us. This will be done by turning consumption of random, often times psychologically harmful content into engagement with meaningful content that sparks ideas, tangible actions or genuine connections.
